A Note from the Principal

This Week on Campus

This week our students had their first week of hurricane make-up hours, and they did very well. I know many of them were exhausted from the change in their schedules, but this is a much easier solution than adding time to the end of the year or a holiday.

Last week was also interesting with our level system. Please keep in mind this was only the second week of the system, and students were still adjusting. We were able to put the level system into place the second week of school, but then the hurricanes precluded us from utilizing it again until last week. If you experienced anything like we did, you probably received some complaints from your child about the injustices of the level system. Many students seemed to have forgotten about said system last week, and they were late to class, not participating in activities, not cleaning rooms, etc. However, after their levels were not where they desired, I can assure you we've had a much better week this week, with the majority of students remaining on a level 3 or higher. As with typical teenagers, we know they have to adjust to the system, and after a time they will learn how to navigate it successfully.

October Mini Family Weekend

For those of you who have signed up to attend the smaller version of Family Weekend in October, I sent the schedule to you yesterday. Mrs. Thomas has been contacting you to set up appointment times. Keep in mind Monday's holiday has become a make-up day from the hurricanes.

Around Campus
In Middle School classes this week, students were studies human/environment interaction.
In art class students looked at color/ value and positive and negative space and blending techniques with tempera paints.

We had soccer matches and cross country meets, as well as various other activities. The students have also been working on service hours all around campus.

We look forward to seeing some of you next weekend, and we hope you have a great week!
