Dear Families,

Happy Friday! We are finishing up a good week, and we've been very busy on campus. We had a great time at our small Family Weekend last week! There was a wonderful turnout of families, and they were able to visit the classrooms and get to know the teachers. We had lunch, provided by our dining service Sage Dining, out by the pool, then the students enjoyed an afternoon pool party and water slide. It was so exciting to see each student interacting with his/her friends and having a good time.

End of Term 1

Today marks the end of term one. Each of our terms will end with a half day of classes, so teachers can have an afternoon work day. Then report cards will be released the following Friday. This term we will be releasing progress reports to RenWeb, as well. Report Cards will be emailed on or before October 27.

Student of the Week

Last week we began a new program that highlights our Vanguard Students who stand out for good- those displaying the qualities we want to see in our students. These students are being recognized for their positive contributions to our campus and student body. The students of the week from the past two weeks are listed below:

Around Campus

Seniors

Thursday and Friday of this week were set aside for senior portraits. Mrs. Rogers and Mr. Fant did an excellent job helping the seniors get prepared.

The seniors continue to have opportunities to visit colleges and universities, as they recently took a trip to Johnson University in Kissimmee. Additionally, Lynn University will be on campus October 27, and the students will Visit Webber University November 7.

The senior shirts arrived today, and the seniors can proudly wear them on Fridays for the remainder of the year.

ACT

Students are preparing for the upcoming ACT tests both in class and during special mentor ACT prep sessions, provided by Mrs. Halfacre. These high stakes test are particularly stressful to seniors, and Mrs. Halfacre does everything she can to help them get ready. The next test is October 28.

Level System

The Level System is really working well, and we are seeing a great improvement in student behavior and responsibility. First period tardies have decreased 60%. This week 52 of our students are on the highest level, level 5! 27 students were on Level 4. These students are eligible for all weekend trips and activities, which keeps them motivated to do well. In addition, those on Level 5 often receive a special treat, such as Frosty's from Wendy's at lunch.
