Vanguard opened its doors on February 1, 1966, in Lake Wales, Florida to a class of six students. From that humble beginning, Vanguard has grown into an internationally recognized and accredited learning institution with a maximum enrollment of 150 students. We started with just one building, and now boast a 75-acre campus with four dorms, three school buildings, a state-of-the-art media center/library, cafeteria, gym, and more.
Our list of graduates and alumni has also blossomed, and in 1998 we opened an Alumni Office with its own Director. Thus began a concerted effort to formally track down and contact Vanguard's widely scattered and illustrious alumni. Alumni Office services have grown considerably since then. The first-ever Vanguard Reunion was held in the Spring of 2000 with over 100 people in attendance.
In an attempt to keep up with the happenings of Vanguard's past grads and provide a way for alumni to stay in touch, a Facebook page has been started. The Vanguard School Facebook is fast becoming a way for past and present students to keep up with what is going on at Vanguard and to share what they are up to these days.
Future plans for the Alumni Office include the development of an Alumni Association with chapters based in population concentrations of Vanguard's grads, as well as special travel events for alumni and their families.
