The Vanguard School prides itself on fiscal responsibility. Over the years, Vanguard has had good stewardship of tuition and gifts. As a result, we have been able to pass this savings on to our parents. This allows Vanguard to offer a superb educational value year after year. The tuition at Vanguard is highly competitive, and we have no "hidden costs". The tuition at the Vanguard School is designed to be primarily all inclusive. There is no uniform or fee, but students are expected to conform to the published dress code. Additional Academic Materials Activity Fees are collected from Boarding and Day Students; it is requested that parents replenish the account as funds are expended throughout the school year.

Residential Students:

Tuition fees for Full-Time Boarding Students for the 2013-2014 school year are $44,000. For Weekday Only Boarding Students the tuition fees are $38,000. Residential tuition covers room and board (three meals per day, seven days per week); the instructional program including textbooks, classroom materials, and initial supplies; special training such as speech therapy and individual tutorials; evening and weekend sports and on-campus recreational activities. An additional Academic Materials Activity Fee of $650 ($1,250 for international students) is required of Residential Students to provide for costs associated with special class project materials, yearbooks, student class pictures, academic lab fees, etc. International Students' medical expenses may also be paid from this fund; U.S. parents are billed directly for medical expenses.

It is requested that parents send $100-$150 per month allowance to their student for personal expenses. Trips are made approximately once per week to local stores for students to purchase personal items. Laundry services are billed to the student's Academic Materials Fee ($150 per semester).

Additional expenses which may affect residential students: transportation charges to and from home, driver education, off-campus recreational activities, membership and/or participation in special programs or events, off-campus medical or dental services, and prescription drugs.

Day Students:

Tuition fees for Day Students for the 2013-2014 school year are $22,500. Day Student tuition covers the instructional program including textbooks, classroom materials, and initial supplies; special training such as speech therapy and individual tutorials; lunch (five days per week). An additional $350 Academic Materials Activity Fee is required of day students to provide for costs associated with special class project materials, yearbooks, student class pictures, academic lab fees, etc.

Additional expenses which may affect Day Students: transportation to and from home, and replenishment of school supplies, as needed.
