On Friday, October 25th, students at the Vanguard School participated in a walk to raise funds for breast cancer research.
Led by student council members, boys and girls from grades 6-12 met at the Vanguard soccer field. There, everyone walked laps around the field, and each lap generated funds to fight breast cancer. Funds were donated to local breast cancer charities.
This is the sixth year that Vanguard students have raised awareness about and funding for breast cancer research. Several of Vanguard’s faculty, staff, and administration have been impacted by the disease, and many family members of personnel at the school have also encountered it in varying forms. The Vanguard family also includes a number of breast cancer survivors.
Students, teachers, and residential staff alike wore pink on Friday to commemorate those who lost the battle against breast cancer, and to celebrate those who won. The school intends to continue its support of breast cancer-related causes.
