ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL

The Vanguard School seeks an Assistant Principal to serve as a member of the school administrative team. Reporting to the Principal, the Assistant Principal is responsible for the safety/well-being and discipline of Vanguard School students, for supporting excellence in academic and co-curricular programs, for aiding in curriculum development and supervision, for assisting with faculty evaluation and professional development, for maintaining and monitoring student records, for assigning classes and scheduling, and more. As a leader in the school community, the Assistant Principal will also meet regularly with the faculty, with the Principal, Director of Residential Life, Head of School, academic and administrative leadership, students and parents.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent
  • Two to five years relevant experience (in school administration preferred) and/or training
  • Experience in classroom instruction
  • Experience with students with learning differences
  • Florida State teaching certification or equivalent
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience in educational technology integration
  • Effective writing and oral communication skills
  • Educational Leadership certification or degree, or willingness to attain
  • Successful results of criminal and employment background check
  • Availability to be on-call nights and weekends

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains congruence between the School’s mission, core values, and core beliefs in all activities
  • Supports Diversity, Equality and Inclusion throughout the program
  • Supports the principal in providing instructional and organizational leadership, including the use of data to inform instruction and learning outcomes
  • Establishes a working relationship with the faculty to support consistency across divisions
  • Works with the principal and director of residential life to ensure a safe, engaging learning environment for all students
  • Provides support in improvement, development, and evaluation for instructional excellence
  • Supports and supervises the instructional program with resources, mentoring, and maintenance of a positive climate of collaboration and educational progress
  • Helps to constructs a master instructional schedule and assigns faculty and students within the schedule
  • Manages student behavior and implementation of behavior and discipline interventions
  • Supervises the planning of family-teacher conferences, family weekends, and grade reports
  • Advises the principal on faculty hiring and evaluation
  • Manages enrollment, registration and placement processes students, including the use of the student database
  • Support an effective online system of communication within the faculty and staff, and assists the faculty in communicating with parents
  • Supervises the completion and submission of reports as required by the principal, the State Department of Education, and accrediting agencies
  • With the principal and dean of students, organizes, coordinates and supervises major class trips
  • Supports the athletic department through activity attendance and compliance regulation
  • Serves as principal in the principal’s absence
  • Provides direct supervision of school activities
  • Effective communication with parents and students
  • All other duties as assigned by principal and Head of School

SCHOOL NURSE (LPN/RN)

The Vanguard School of Lake Wales is currently seeking Nursing Personnel to join our dynamic Vanguard family. Eligible candidates must have current LPN or higher certification/license. Job duties will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Overseeing medication administration, and follow health care procedures
  • Provide healthcare to students ages 11+
  • Perform health screenings
  • Coordinate referrals to private healthcare providers and behavioral health providers
  • Serve as liaisons between school personnel, family, and community healthcare providers to ensure a healthy school environment
  • Actively participating in school safety plans and emergencies that may occur at school
  • Computer/technology experience preferred
