This Week Around Campus

As we approach the holiday break, it is a whirlwind around campus! This week we had hurricane make up for Science. All students in attendance receive credit for the days missed in the events surrounding Hurricane Irma. Please be sure to monitor your student's attendance on RenWeb. Our attendance policy is listed on pages 9-10 of the student handbook.

On Wednesday of this week, many of our high school students took the ASVAB test. The ASVAB Career Exploration Program helps students identify skills and interests, explore jobs, and develop after high school plans. Once the tests are scored, and ASVAB representative will return to discuss the results with the students.  We were so impressed with our students' efforts and behavior during the test.

Movie Trip

Yesterday we had the privilege of taking the entire school to see the movie Wonder. This was made possible by a generous donation from last year's Family Weekend Silent Auction. We were able to rent out the local theater for a private screening of the movie, and it was such a treat! The movie explores empathy, bullying, and friendship- all concepts we strive to teach to our students. It will be accompanied by an assembly today discussing the harmful effects of cyberbullying in our culture.

Student of the Week

Please congratulate our student of the week, Terrell Harrigan. Terrell is being recognized as being a good student who stands up for what is right, always helps staff, has a great attitude, and is kind.

Tonight there will be a food truck on campus as a special activity for our students, as well as we have JV Boys and Varsity Girls games at Oasis in Winter Haven. Tomorrow is the ACT for some students, the last one of 2017. There are two more tests in February and April.

Spirit Week

Next week is Spirit Week on campus. This is just a fun time to get in the holiday spirit before break.

Adopt a Family

Carol Marsh has organized the annual Adopt a Family luncheon for next Thursday, 12/14. We encourage the students and staff to participate in the spirit of the season by giving back to a local family in need. The list below includes the items requested:

Good Luck, Mrs. Clements

Sadly today we are saying goodbye to one of our very special teachers, Mrs.Polly Clements. Mrs. Clements is relocating, and we will miss her greatly at the Vanguard School. Our search is on to find the best candidate for her position, and we hope to have him/her when we return from break. We wish Mrs. Clements the best in her future!
