Residential Life
Living on campus at Vanguard means more than having a place to stay. It’s about being part of a caring, inclusive community where every student feels supported and at home. Our residential program offers a safe, structured environment where students develop independence, build friendships, and thrive both academically and personally. Life on campus is filled with connection, growth, and meaningful routines designed to help every student feel confident, capable, and cared for. From evening activities to weekend outings, residential life creates opportunities for students to engage, unwind, and grow in a community that understands and supports them.
Residential Activities Calendar
Our Residential Activities Calendar showcases the wide variety of programs and events available to boarding students outside of class time. From recreation to community-building activities, there’s always something happening on campus. Check back often for updates as new activities are added throughout the year!

Student Processes
Student Account Withdrawal
1. Parents authorize amount of funds for withdrawal by email to lori.knavel@vaguardschool.org
2. Students will be called to the business office to pick up their funds. (Business Office Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:00pm)
3. Students can participate in our off campus fun on the weekends
Student Sign-Out Process
Parent/Alma Emergency Contact:
1. Parents enter the respective dorm and fill out a "Sign Out Sheet" in the dorm lobby
2. Parents notify staff members in the dormitory of departure
3. Student(s) are cleared to go off campus
Other Driver:
1. Parents send written consent to Residential staff allowing their child to go off campus; email must specify the driver, pickup time, and return time
2. Student notifies Residential staff and completes sign-out with them
3. Student(s) are cleared to go off campus

Residential Advisors
Our residential advisors are here for our boarding students, whether on a 5 or 7 day schedule, helping them build independent living skills and stay connected to campus life. Through our mentor team approach, nearly 20 faculty and staff live on campus in dorm housing, offering guidance, support, and friendly faces after school hours.
